FAQ

I have had bad experiences working with Freight Brokers in the past. How will that be any different with Pacific Connection?

Bad experiences with a 3PL can quickly become one of the most frustrating aspects of your business. Many, once burned by a Broker, swear them off completely. Pacific Connection understands the route of this problem and it is their core identity to be better than it. Pacific Connection is committed to good, old fashion Customer Service and great Communication. They believe that the root of most problems occur when the Broker is slow and vague when it comes to communication. When a Broker focuses on Customer Service and Communication you, the customer, are greeted with fast, honest information every step of the way.

How does Pacific Connection handle situations when a truck can’t pick up or deliver on time?

While most problems can be prevented, no person or company is completely immune to transportation related problems. How you handle yourself in this situation is of the utmost importance. The most common delays are the most frustrating. Sometimes a carrier hasn’t allowed enough time to reach their destination, causing your goods to show up late. Sometimes a carrier doesn’t know exactly where goods are heading, causing your goods to show up late. Sometimes the load is not instantly loaded or unloaded so the carrier must wait for hours, causing your goods to show up late. This puts you in hot water with your customers, even though it was out of your hands. But Pacific Connection has a history of quick communication and direct contact with carriers, shippers, receivers, and customers. They review schedules and routes to ensure that there is enough time to complete the task but also to minimize the chances that anyone is waiting for hours. Your goods should be quickly loaded, transported, and unloaded because each person in the process is privy to what happens next and when.

What does Pacific Connection do that other Brokers do not?

Pacific Connection goes through an extensive list of checks to ensure each person that is handling your goods is of the utmost quality. Vetting Carriers, reviewing their ratings, and making sure all insurances are up to date and legal is just the tip of the iceberg. Pacific Connection knows that even the smallest leak can cause a boat to sink, so they use their extensive vetting process on all companies that would handle your goods. And the second any person or company is showing a lack of commitment to quality, they do not risk it and go with a better, more qualified replacement. The vetting process never ends so quality never stops.

How has Electronic Log Device’s (ELD’s) impacted trucking?

Carriers transporting goods interstate (across state lines) are required by law to use an approved ELD device. These devices are used to track a drivers “hours of service” electronically. This system minimizes the ability of a driver to falsify driving records and exceeding their allowed hours of service thus making the roads safer. Although it does not guarantee drivers are resting while out of service, it does make it harder for them to operate outside their permitted daily and weekly allotted working hours. Carriers are allowed 11 hours drive time per day with an additional 3 hours per day for loading and/or unloading. Carriers are also required to do a 34 hour reset at the end of every work week. Shippers and receivers who take longer than 3 hours to load or unload a carrier on any given work day hamper the productivity of carriers. If loading and/or unloading time frames exceed the 3 hour daily limit, the remaining hours used is deducted from the carriers daily driving hours.
